Bing Images Launches “Places To Buy” For Holiday Shopping Season 1

Bing Images has launched 2 new features keeping the holiday shopping season in mind. They allow you to compare product prices and also get recommendations for products depending on the images you have clicked as favourite.

2015 Holiday Shopping Season

According to Adobe, this is going to be the biggest online-sales holiday shopping season yet. The US market alone is expected to see sales of over $83 billion this year, a growth of 11% over the previous year. It is worth noting that more than 60% of sales are expected to take place in a single segment – electronics.

This year, Thanksgiving has been estimated to experience the biggest growth in online sales. At the same time, Cyber Monday is expected to break all previous records and grow by over 12% in sales. The same can be said for Black Friday. Some of the most sought after gift items this year are:

  • Apple Watch
  • Minecraft game
  • PlayStation 4
  • Halo 5 game

It is on the heel of the biggest shopping weekend that Bing Images has added an important feature – ‘Places to Buy’ to its image search. The new feature shows product price, product seller, user reviews and ratings.

More Information Around Product Images

Bing’s image search will now display more information to users. Some of the new additions include:

  • Prices of same product offered at other stores
  • Availability at store
  • Reviews & ratings

The image will have a shopping cart icon and clicking on it will give you information about ‘Places to Buy’. The feature is currently in beta and will be made available on both mobile and desktop.

Image Stream Search Feature

The other new feature is Image Stream. It will present you with recommended products based on the images that you have favourited. This comes as an addition to the ‘favouriting’ (heart icon) feature that was released a few months ago. Now Bing will display similar products depending on your preferences and likes.

Video Demonstrating Image Stream

Bing has also released a video demonstrating how you can use the new image stream feature. Check this video:  Image Stream that shows how the new feature can be used for comparing products.
